The Complete Heart Checkup
A comprehensive, all-in one cardiovascular screening assessment
Traditional risk algorithms may miss 50% of patients who experience a heart attack or stroke.
Know your risk.
At Whole Heart Cardiology, we believe in personalized risk assessment and data-driven care. Cardiovascular disease - heart attack and stroke - is often preventable. But it’s ideal to intervene early - prior to significant disease and debilitating symptoms. Traditional methods of risk assessment often underestimate true risk. We go beyond basic risk markers and deep dive using advanced imaging and laboratory assessments for the most in-depth cardiovascular screening available.
Our Signature Protocol
-
Advanced Laboratory Bloodwork
An in depth, comprehensive laboratory analysis including an advanced lipid panel, inflammatory markers, and markers of metabolic health
-
Electrocardiogram (EKG)
A recording of the electrical impulses of your heart at rest, screening for basic structural and electrical problems including heart attack, atrial fibrillation, and heart failure
-
Cardiopulmonary Exercise Stress Test with VO2 max
A special type of stress test that can assess your cardiorespiratory fitness (VO2 max) and strength of your heart during exercise. VO2 max is the most robust predictor of cardiovascular mortality as well as all-cause mortality in all comers
-
Carotid Ultrasound
An ultrasound to assess for plaque in the arteries that provide blood to the brain. This test evaluates for early signs of atherosclerosis, including carotid artery wall thickness (intima media thickness, IMT) as well as soft and calcified plaque. It also can provide you with your vascular age
-
Coronary Artery Calcium Score (CAC) or Coronary CT Angiogram (CCTA)
A coronary calcium scan (CAC) is a special type of CT scan that measures calcified plaque in the arteries of your heart. You do not need an IV for this test, and the radiation exposure is similar to a mammogram. Alternatively, you can opt for a coronary CT angiogram (CCTA) for a higher resolution assessment
-
Meet with Dr Harkin
About 2 weeks after your tests, you’ll have 1 hour with Dr Harkin to thoroughly discuss results, either virtually or in person. You’ll leave with a clear action plan for your heart health and personalized recommendations
Why get a heart health screening?
80% of heart disease is preventable
Up to 50% of healthy people with no risk factors for heart disease had evidence of significant plaque build up
Traditional risk algorithms may miss 50% of patients who experience a heart attack or stroke
Add Cleerly coronary analysis
You now have the ability to opt for a coronary CT angiogram (CCTA) with AI analysis via Cleerly instead of a coronary artery calcium scan (CAC). This test detects both calcified plaque and soft plaque, and more completely details the presence, amount, and type of plaque in the arteries of your heart.
